How to Get to Sapanca

What makes Sapanca so special is not only the Sapanca Lake surrounded by lush green forests and its peaceful charming villages but also its location at the center of a triangle formed by Istanbul, Ankara, and Bursa. For those tired of the busy city life and hectic work schedules, it offers the perfect holiday escape.

When you arrive in the area, you can enjoy a delicious trout feast cooked in a clay oven by Sapanca Lake, indulge in the famous village breakfast of Maşukiye, or spend time at the ski resorts in Kartepe. Time is short, but there is plenty to do, so it’s time to hit the road to Sapanca!

By Road

Sapanca stands out for its easy road access and close proximity to major cities. Located on the Ankara–Istanbul TEM highway, your journey will be comfortable and convenient. From Istanbul, it takes approximately 1.5 hours via the highway toll booths. From Ankara, follow the highway toward Adapazarı, and after about a 3-hour drive, follow the signs to reach Sapanca. From Bursa, the journey is around 2 hours over approximately 170 km.

By Bus

Regular bus services operate between Sakarya and Istanbul, making it easy to reach Sapanca. Minibuses also run from Adapazarı city center to Sapanca.

By Air

For travelers coming from distant cities, flying is a convenient option. Sapanca is about 100 km from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. From there, you can go to Adapazarı or İzmit and then continue to Sapanca. You may also rent a car at the airport and enjoy the scenic drive at your own pace.
